Past…Present and Future – Great Quote…

This quote is spot on…but so hard to do.  Why is it so hard to move on from some people?  I am experiencing this right now and I cannot help but think about the past and all those great memories.  However, a lot of those good memories have been replaced with negative thoughts and feelings.  I really hate feeling conflicted all the time, so from this moment on, I am choosing to MOVE ON.  Because, as the quote says…I ALREADY KNOW who matters!!

Year in Review….

1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?  I had a New Year’s Eve Party and went out to a lounge afterwards with my girls!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions and will you make more for next year?  I typically do not make resolutions at the end of the year; however I have certain goals I would like to maintain throughout the year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?  Yes, a couple of my friends gave birth last year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?  Unfortunately, we did lose a couple of people in our family.

5. What countries did you visit?  Again, unfortunately, none.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?  A life partner and peace of mind!

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?  My last date with the “ex”…I knew it was OVER after that.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?  Obtaining a really hard to get grant for school!

9. What was your biggest failure?  Not letting go of some negative and unhealthy friendships/relationships.

10. What was the best thing you bought?  My laptop.

11. Whose behavior merited celebration?  God’s!!

12. Whose behavior made you appalled and disgusted?  Quite a few friends and family members!

13. What song will always remind you of 2011?  Adele’s “Someone Like You

14. What do you wish you’d done more of?  Dieting & Exercise and Writing.

15. What do you wish you’d done less of?  Lying to myself about certain friends and situations.

16. Did you fall in love in 2011?  Nope, just the opposite…I fell out of love in 2011.

17. What was your favorite new TV program?  2 Broke Girls & Fashion Police

18. What was the best book you read?  I have not read anything for pleasure in a while; however I am starting a new book with a group of girls this month!

19. What one thing would have made your year measurably more satisfying?  If I made it to Mass more often,

20. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?  Simple & Comfortable

21. What kept you sane?  Knowing that God has my back. <= Ditto

22. Who did you miss?  A few friends that I had to let go of…time will heal all wounds…I hope.

23. Who was the best new person you met?  RC…met her at a conference and we became instant friends!

24. Tell us a valuable lesson you learned in 2011?  I need to use more discretion when writing on my blog…you never know who is reading your words and how they will react.

Memories and Feelings…

I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou

Dr. Angelou was so spot on with this quote!  At the end of 2011, I told myself that I was going to let go of all the negative feelings and baggage that was weighing me down.  You know, it is 2012, a new year, with new beginnings, new experiences…etc.  However, just like the quote says…I might not remember the exact words or incidents that have made me feel a certain way about a few people…but I cannot seem to let go how they have made me feel.

And do not get me wrong…I know I am not perfect.  I know that I have probably said and done a lot few things that have rubbed a few people the wrong way.  Sigh, I want so desperately to be able to forgive and forget stuff…but I can’t.  Maybe in time…SMH,,,maybe in time.  All I can do now, is just provide distance and protect myself.  Wish me luck!

Looking Towards 2012…

During this holiday break, I have had a chance to re-examine my blog and while I have been very honest with my feelings and thoughts…I have also spent a great deal of time being negative and dwelling on the past.

One of my goals for 2012 is to be more positive and have a more optimistic outlook on life.  I know I cannot run from my past…but I can learn from it and change my destructive ways, nasty habits and patterns.

I have many goals, hopes and dreams for 2012.  I really need to focus on myself (mind, body and soul), get organized and financially fit.

I’m sure I have yet to say it…but 2011 was a great year for me…I learned a lot about myself and the people around me.  And I looking forward to continuing that growth process in 2012…
